Position Title: Part-Time Travel Chaperone
Position Type: Part-Time / Contract-Based (Per Trip)
Compensation: Hourly or flat rate per trip (to be discussed); all travel expenses covered
Position Summary:
We are seeking compassionate, responsible, and organized individuals to serve as a part-time Travel Chaperones for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities during group activities and vacations. In this role, you will be entrusted with the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of travelers throughout the trip. The ideal candidate brings a warm, encouraging, and respectful approach to care; strong organizational and time-management skills; flexibility and comfort in new environments; and a team-oriented mindset committed to inclusion and dignity for all. Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the physical, emotional, and social well-being of travelers at all times during the trip
Assist with daily living tasks (e.g., medication reminders, hygiene, dressing assistance, mobility support) as needed
Facilitate safe and inclusive participation in all scheduled vacation activities and excursions
Monitor and manage traveler behavior, providing support and redirection as necessary
Administer or supervise medication intake, according to individual care plans
Coordinate with other chaperones and staff to maintain group organization and accountability
Maintain accurate documentation, including incident reports, medication logs, and travel notes
Communicate effectively with family members, guardians, and program staff before, during, and after trips
Travel with the group from departure to return, ensuring 24/7 supervision and care while on duty
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities required
Background in caregiving, special education, behavioral support, or related field strongly preferred
Must be at least 21 years old, have background check
Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
Ability to remain calm and resourceful in unfamiliar or high-stress situations
Physically capable of walking, lifting, and managing travel logistics
Willingness to travel for extended periods (typically 1 day or 3–10 days per trip) and stay onsite with participants
